If you’ve ever visited Northern Europe during the winter months, you might recall the intoxicating aroma (and maybe the intoxicating effect) of warmed red wine with spices, in Germany known as “Glühwein.” Below is our version of this classic Glühwein Cocktail recipe, using organic red wine.
Our resident German expert, Herr Helge Hellberg, ensures us that this recipe produces a truly authentic experience. Enjoy with friends wherever you are in the world, inside out of the cold, for the holidays, or simply for its utter deliciousness.
And as always, drink responsibly.

2 two-inch long cinnamon sticks
6 cloves
½ vanilla bean
¼ cup organic cane sugar
Rum (optional)
Procedure
- In a medium saucepan, combine the red wine, orange peel, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla bean, and cane sugar.
